The first cartoon I ever drew was out of sheer despair of a situation in the flat-share I was living in Zurich (my home town), a long time ago. Our bathroom was often left in a rather poor state. You could only enter with a nose clip. So the cartoon I drew and then postered the bathroom walls with, was about the person ending up wrapped as a mummy in toilet paper and muzzled with a WC-Buerschteli (I think there is no quite as charming word as the Swiss German one for a 'toilet-cleaning-brush'). It was sort of a protest-warning and actually did improve the state of the bathroom. I assume the success of that key event is what triggered eventually turning me into a cartoon activist.
